Emerging Leaders

A targeted training programme delivered over 2 days

There is a concerning trend in Northern Ireland’s education system: a declining number of teachers applying for vice principal and principal positions. This leadership vacuum threatens the sustainability and quality of school management, instructional guidance, and student outcomes.

Several factors contribute to this issue, including a lack of confidence, limited awareness of the leadership pathway, concerns about workload and accountability, and insufficient preparation or support. To address these challenges, we have developed a targeted programme designed to demystify school leadership roles and inspire the next generation of educational leadership.

The programme aims to:

  • Build confidence and leadership capacity in aspiring candidates
  • Introduce a framework of approaches and tools that will equip aspiring leaders to better cope with the demands of leading and managing schools
  • Share inspirational guidance and ideas from current leaders within the sector as well as acknowledged leaders, consultants and recognised authorities from the wider world of leadership and management
  • Equip teachers with tools to balance leadership responsibilities and well-being
